Election Ballots Guide

Every ballot you add to your election is configurable, with options that include ranked voting, referendums, and plurality votes, adjustable winners and voter selections, and enabling voters to abstain from voting.

1. Introduction to Ballots

One of the core components of an election are the ballot. AtlasVote provides the tools for you to configure the right voting options for your needs. Each election can have multiple ballots, each with a seperate set of configuration, candidates and options.

3. Ballot Options

Ballot Types
  • Ranked Ballot: This ballot type uses instant-runoff selection, where a voter will rank options in order of preference, and lowest scoring candidates are excluded from calculations until a single candidate reaches over 50% of the vote.
  • Plurality: This ballot type selects winners based on the options with the most votes.
  • Referendum Question: Similar to plurality, referendum questions select winning option based on which one received the most votes. Referendum questions do not support multiple voter selections or multiple winners.
Ballot Options
  • Winner Count: Only available for plurality votes, a user may select any number of candidates to select as winners, in order of most votes received (Ex. 2 = Top two candidates are selected as winners).
  • Selection Count: For plurality votes, a user may select this number of choices in any order. For ranked votes, this is the number of choices a voter may select in order of preference.
  • Allow Abstain: If this option is selected, voters will be presented with an option not to vote on the ballot.
